“Had a great day on the river with Dave for my birthday treat. The weather was very hot but managed to catch some nice barbel, chub and an eel . it was an honour to be taught by Dave! Smashing guy and not forgetting his dog Monty. We were on the Docklow Pools stretch on the River Wye.”

“I live 3.5 hrs’ drive from the River Wye so to make the most of each trip across to fish for Barbel and Chub I decided to book a day’s tuition with Dave.

Conditions for the day were not great; low clear water, bright sunshine and a blustery down stream breeze made fishing difficult however, Dave chose a swim and taught me the right tactics for the day. Starting the morning with a small feeder then moving on to waggler fishing in fast flowing water.

The advice and small but important tweaks that Dave made to my standard approach to feeder fishing has given me so much more confidence in what I am doing.

The waggler fishing was a first for me on such fast flowing water however, with Dave explaining the set up, rod lengths, lines, how to feed etc... I gained huge confidence and so much more knowledge in using the waggler tactic.

With difficult conditions on the day, Dave’s swim choice and tuition helped me catch numerous Chub - up to 4lb and several Barbel.

I would recommend Dave to anyone, a great all round angler and genuinely a nice guy with the ability to communicate well.
