New Beginnings With Old Friends
Well, we’ve finally launched our website! So firstly, welcome, and thanks for visiting.
It’s been a particularly busy time for Dave since the start of 2019. No doubt the biggest and most time consuming effort was the organising and the running of The Two Day River Wye Spring Festival.
The event was held over 20th and 21st February. It was fantastic couple of days that saw over 50 of the countries best river anglers present including, Tony Birt, Andy Neal and Hadrian Whittle. Although Dave himself didn’t get to wet a line. It was an admin error, allegedly.
After all the hard work and effort put in by Dave and Andy Neal organising, the event was a great success and river fished its head off. In fact, over the two days, there was some 2382lb of fish caught!
The talk of the town on day 1 was Tony Birt. He managed 127lb 6oz of Chub for what was a fantastic piece of angling, and it was his birthday too! That gave Tony a section win and 1 point, but there were some other monster weights on day. Mr Hadrian Whittle also helped himself to a section win and 1 point with a weight of 71lb 13oz. No doubt day 2 was going to right battle for the overall win.
Again, thew mighty River Wye didn’t let us down with a number of good weights being caught. However, it was that man, Hadrian Whittle who came out on top. He won his section again, this time with 27lb 10oz of Dace, giving him the 1 point he wanted so badly.
It must be said though that he was pushed all the way by Ade Griffin who also won his section on both days, but he lost out on overall weight to Hadrian.
So, a massive congratulations to Hadrian Whittle on winning this years River Wye Spring Festival. The event has grown and grown and the reserve list for the event is getting bigger by the day.
A big thank you to all the event sponsors: Milo Uk, Bait Tech, Fishing- IT, Woody’s Angling Centre and Hereford and District Angling Association. Without their continued support the event would not be possible.
Dave covered the match on the Angling Escapades Facebook with live, hourly updates and the event as a whole was captured by Catch More Media and the final video van be seen here:

If that wasn’t enough Dave has ventured out Pike fishing with a number of clients over this winter with some fantastic results. The pick of the bunch, was no doubt, a day the Morris brothers. On what was a particularly tricky day in February the two brothers worked their socks off with Dave, and it resulted in Chris Morris catching his first Pike at 16lb 4oz. Not bad, hey!
Dave has also been on the stretch controlled by Docklow Pools for a days Pike fishing with some great results and couple of right crocs put on the bank.
The course season is quickly coming to and end, but thats not the end to adventures on the River Wye. The Salmon season is now in full swing and we have some exciting projects coming up with regards to that.
